Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a member of the UNG Alumni Association?
Graduates are automatically considered members of the Alumni Association. If you have an affinity to a particular area or major, consider joining (or starting) a Shared Interest Group (SIG)!
The Association encourages all graduates to help strengthen the University of North Georgia by making annual gifts in support of university-wide and alumni initiatives. This support not only provides campus-wide academic funding but also directly benefits the programs and operations of the UNG Alumni Association.
What are the benefits of Association membership?
Networking with the University and with other alumni is a primary benefit of Alumni Association involvement. The UNG Alumni Association serves more than 70,000 alumni to help them stay connected to the university through a variety of programs, events and services.
I am a paid member of the NGCSU Alumni Association, Inc. Did it go away?
On April 18, 2015, the North Georgia College & State University Alumni Association, Inc. officially became the North Georgia-Dahlonega Alumni (NGDA) Shared Interest Group (SIG). The NGDA falls under the umbrella of the UNG Alumni Association. As a Dahlonega campus graduate, you are welcome to become a dues paying member of the NGDA SIG. Dues will remain tax-deductible and end June 30 each year. Other SIGs include Women of UNG, North Georgia Corps of Cadets Associations, and Accountants of North Georgia.
Do legacy students, those with siblings, parents or grandparents that are alumni, get special consideration from Admissions?
There is no specific advantage to being a legacy from an Admissions perspective. Freshman admission is competitive based on GPA and test scores, but if
families have specific concerns about admissions, the office can talk to them about the less competitive summer semester start option, transitioning, etc.
If you are interested in taking a campus tour, the Admissions Officer of the Day can meet with them prior or following a scheduled tour to discuss their specific situations and counsel them on making the most competitive academic file possible and help guide them through the process.
I already graduated but need career help! Who do I call?
As an alumnus, you still have access to a majority of the services offered by Career Services. Details of services can be found on the Career Services website.
How do I get my official transcript?
Visit the Registrar's website and order online, or call the Registrar's Office at 706-864-1760.
Can I get a replacement diploma?
