2017 Alumni Weekend Schedule of Events:

Friday, April 21
9 a.m. Nighthawks Athletic Club Annual Golf Tournament
Achasta Golf Course (639 Birch River Drive, Dahlonega). $150/person.
Join us for a day of fun on the Golf Course at Achasta! Annual Nighthawks Athletic Club Golf Tournament at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast by McDonald's at 9 a.m. Shotgun start. Space is limited. Call Cris Perkins to secure your spot at 706-864-1972 (office) or 678-332-7878 (cell).
10 a.m. Information Briefing on the Institute for Leadership & Strategic Studies
Pennington Military Leadership Center. No cost.
The ILSS was authorized in September 2015 and consists of four major components; Commandant of Cadets, Department of Military Science, Cadet Admissions, and Corps of Cadets Development. This one-hour briefing will provide attendees with an in-depth explanation of progress and future plans for the ILSS, the Corps of Cadets, the new National Service Leadership Track, Strategic Languages, International Study/Service Abroad Programs, Cyber Security and much more. LTC (Ret.) Keith Antonia, Assistant Vice President, Military Programs will be the briefer.
12 p.m. Golden Alumni Luncheon
Dining Facility Banquet Room. $30/person.
A performance by The Patriot Choir will kick off your luncheon! All alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more are invited to attend!
4:30 p.m. *Wine Tasting with Dr. Robert Fuller
Corkscrew Cafe, 51 W Main Street, Dahlonega. $30/person.
A precurser to the UNG Outdoors Canoe River Trip on Saturday, April 22, Dr. Robert Fuller will speak about his canoe trip from Dahlonega to the Gulf of Mexico and back.
5:30 p.m. *Former Student Athlete and Alumni Reception at the Nighthawks Baseball Game
Bob Stein Stadium / Registration requested, payment accepted at stadium.
Step up to the plate for this family fun event as our University of North Georgia Nighthawks baseball team hosts Flagler College in a key Peach Belt Conference series. A pleasant spring night in the beautiful setting of Bob Stein Stadium is the back drop for this reception where hot dogs, drinks and soda will be served as we “Take You Out to the Ball Game,” as you catch up with old friends and create new memories.

9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Rogers Hall Open House
Meet in the front lobby of Rogers Hall. Tours will be given every 10 minutes or as groups develop.

10 a.m. Campus Beautification hosted by the Young Alumni Board
No registration required
Join the Young Alumni Board in planting flowers and sprucing up the outside sitting area in between Dunlap Hall and Newton Oaks across from the Drill Field.
10 a.m. Campus Tour
110 S. Chestatee Street, Dahlonega / No charge, but pre-registration is requested.
Current UNG students working within the Office of Admissions will give a guided walking tour of campus to showcase our newest buildings and how some of your old favorites have been renovated. The tour will depart from Starbucks, located inside the Campus Connection Bookstore.

11 a.m. Soccer Alumni Game and Cookout
UNG Soccer Complex / Registration required / $15 per person includes a t-shirt, food, and beverages.
It's our goal for you to have a great time at the 2017 Annual Alumni Soccer Game and Cookout! Coed game at noon.
11 a.m. UNGAA Awards Luncheon
Dining Facility Banquet Room / $30 per person / Registration required.
Celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding alumni and future alumni as we recognize the recipients of the following 2017 awards: Distinguished Alumnus, Hall of Fame, Young Alumnus, Paul M. Hutcherson Outstanding Student Award given to one male student and one female student and the Distinguished Professor Award.
11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Rifle & Pistol Range Open House

12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. *UNG OUTDOORS: Live Music and Family Fun on the Promenade
Promenade / Exclusive event for UNGAA members / No registration
Bring your entire family, lawn chairs and blankets to join alumni of all age on the Promenade (the area below the Drill Field leading to the Library) for live music featuring Shawn Mullins, '90, Jay Drummonds, '91, Wayne Baird, '89 and Dahlonega-native Kurt Thomas! There will be bouncy houses, concessions, and other activities for the young kids, and the Office of Admissions will have a table to answer questions for high school students interested in UNG.
2 p.m. *UNG OUTDOORS: Canoe/Kayak Trip with Dr. Robert Fuller
Appalachian Outfitters, 2084 S Chestatee, Dahlonega / Registration requested, payment accepted by Appalachian Outfitters
UNG Professor, Dr. Robert Fuller, who canoed from Dahlonega to the Gulf of Mexico and back in 2012, will lead an easy canoe/kayak trip down the Chestatee River. The group will take the Chestatee River Route, a 6-mile beginner route that will take about 2 1/2 hours and then shuttle back to Appalachian Outfitters. Canoe and kayak rentals available. Minimum age - 5 years. Please call Appalachian Outfitters, 706-864-7117 before mid-April to reserve a spot for the UNG Outdoors Canoe trip.
