1873 Speaker Series - COL Kitefre K. Oboho ‘02

COL Oboho currently commands 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment based in Fort  Benning, Georgia and was promoted to Colonel on January 5, 2022. He received an ROTC Commission into the infantry from the University of North Georgia in 2002.

COL Oboho’s company grade operational assignments include serving as a Platoon Leader in 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) and Platoon Leader in 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Company Commander in 2-2 Infantry Regiment, 3rd BDE (Light), 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, and 2d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, JBLM, WA.  Following command, COL Oboho participated in the Special Operations Low Intensity Conflict Program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a master’s degree in Defense Analysis.

COL Oboho’s field grade assignments include serving as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer at 2d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, JBLM, WA. COL Oboho then served as the Aide de Camp to the 39th Chief of Staff of the Army before assuming command of 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd IBCT (Airborne) in Vicenza, Italy.

COL Oboho’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the MATO Meritorious Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Tab. COL Oboho is also a graduate of MIT’s Seminar XXI Program and has 12 operational deployments in support of the Global War on Terror.

COL Oboho is married to the former Ms. Kai Hawkins from Decatur, Georgia, and they have two sons, Kope (6) and Karter (4).
