Janie Steckenrider

Janie Steckenrider, BSN, RN, SANE-A, GFN-C, IVSE-C, graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Georgia School of Nursing in 2015, where her passion for women’s health first took root. She began her nursing career at Northside Hospital Cherokee as a labor and delivery nurse before transitioning into the specialized field of forensic nursing.

Janie spent two years as the Forensic Nursing Program Coordinator for LiveSafe Resources in Marietta, Georgia. Inspired by the lack of consistent forensic services in Forsyth County, she founded her own forensic nursing program in partnership with what was then Rape Response Inc., now known as Bridging Hope. Currently, she serves as the Forensic Nursing Program Director, overseeing the program she established, which provides free forensic medical exams to victims of violent crimes ages 13 and older.

With three national board certifications in forensic nursing, Janie is recognized as a subject matter expert. She frequently offers free legal consultations and expert testimony on topics such as sexual assault, intimate partner violence, strangulation, and trauma response. Her leadership extended to a statewide project in partnership with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) to develop a universal sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) electronic medical record (EMR), which is now implemented across Georgia’s SANE programs.

In addition to her work, Janie is pursuing her goal of becoming a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner through Georgetown University, further solidifying her dedication to advancing care for women and underserved populations.
