Zach Propes

A Hall County native and lifelong Gainesville resident, Zach Propes has dedicated his career to successfully serving others, beginning with the leadership positions he held as a student at the University of North Georgia. Before graduating in 2009 with his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, Zach served as an official for many intramural sports, a member of the Student Government Association and as academic judiciary chair. Zach went on to pursue his certified public accountant license and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University (2012) while working for Bates Carter and Company, LLP, specializing in governmental and non-profit accounting.

Zach began work for Hall County in 2015 as the financial services director before moving into the assistant county administrator role in 2019. As an assistant county administrator, Zach helped guide the County through several challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a cyberattack, before taking the helm as County Administrator in January 2023. Zach has remained active in serving his community throughout his tenure in public service, serving on multiple non-profit boards, including as the treasurer of the Gainesville Rotary, Good News Clinics, Junior Achievement, and as an active member of numerous other boards and committees. He and his wife Katie are life-long residents of Hall County and are expecting their first child in December.
