Alumna included in Georgia 500: Georgia's Most Influential Leaders

Jessie Owensby, ’23 was recognized in Georgia Trend magazine’s “Georgia 500: Georgia’s Most Influential Leaders.” Owensby graduated from UNG with a Masters in Public Administration in 2023. She serves as the Community and Economic Development Director for Cornelia, Georgia. Under Owensby’s tenure, Cornelia has received a number of recognitions and awards including Georgia Downtown of the Year, Georgia Certified City of Ethics and Georgia Visionary City. Downtown Cornelia has been recognized by the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic District. Owensby is also the founder and principal consultant for Civic Engagement Strategies, which works with municipalities and community groups to develop strategic planning initiatives and leadership strategies.
