Leah Ashley Rose ’16
Leah’s familial roots have been sown in the historical town of Selma, Alabama. However, she was born in Pensacola, Florida and raised in Virginia and Georgia due to her father being enlisted in the United States Navy. Before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Gender Studies in 2016, she studied abroad in the Czech Republic, Austria, and Poland during the Summer of 2012. As an undergraduate, Leah also seized the opportunity to join the Women’s Rugby Team.
After graduation, she began working for the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) as a Child Protective Services Family Preservation Case Manager in October 2016. During the same month, Leah was also diagnosed with a neurological voice disorder called Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD). Despite this setback, Leah continued working with DFCS for 6 years, helping to restore families and create safety plans to help prevent the maltreatment of children in her community. Even through the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, she steadfastly ensured the overall safety and well-being of the children in Camden County.
Ms. Rose is currently the Case Management Specialist for Pathway of Hope at the Salvation Army in Camden County, Georgia. This initiative propels motivated families suffering from intergenerational poverty towards a path of self-sufficiency. Within the past two years, she has successfully supported over 40 participants in achieving a stable lifestyle. She also coordinated a fashion show, silent auction, and gala fundraiser for the Salvation Army, raising over $13,000 in funds for Pathway of Hope families.
Outside of her profession, Ms. Rose enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, traveling, advocating for those with disabilities, listening to music, and getting a good night’s rest!
