Bernex (frequently known as Bernie across UNG) is the Founder and CEO of Thrive Collaborative, an equity-centered coaching firm dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth. Simultaneously, he serves as the Managing Director of Design and Evaluation at COOP Careers, where he plays a crucial role in advancing COOP’s mission through innovative strategies that enhance career readiness and secure full-time employment for first-generation and low-income college graduates. These dual roles underscore Bernex’s commitment to creating a meaningful impact across diverse sectors.

Bernex’s career is marked by significant achievements on both national and global stages. At COOP Careers, his strategic leadership has enhanced employment data efficiency and supported over 1,500 alumni in securing impactful positions. Previously, his work at Facebook and Hinge drove innovation and inclusivity, leading to substantial improvements in employee retention and cultural awareness. His contributions to Guild Education and Black Girls CODE further reflect his dedication to advancing educational and career opportunities, demonstrating his ability to effect positive change on a large scale.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bernex is passionate about endurance sports. With a background as a former UNG Cross Country runner and ROTC cadet, and as a 20-time half marathon finisher, active triathlete, and 4-time participant in the 545-mile AIDS/LifeCycle charity bike ride, he channels the same determination into his work. Holding an advanced degree in Higher Education Management and certifications in executive coaching and diversity, Bernex is committed to leveraging his extensive experience to drive success and give back to the community that has been instrumental in his journey. Honored to be named among UNG’s 20 Under 40, he values the opportunity to contribute to the community that has played such a significant role in his life.
